Solid Ink Horitomo Fudo Blue Grey is a distinctive cool blue-grey tattoo ink developed for traditional Japanese tattooing. Created and tested by renowned Japanese tattoo artist Horitomo, this versatile shade has been specifically designed to complement Fudo Blue Black, allowing artists to create depth, contrast and subtle tonal transitions in their work.
Inspired by the traditional depiction of Fudo Myo-o, a powerful figure in Japanese Buddhist imagery, Fudo Blue Grey provides a softer, lighter alternative to the darker blue-black tones commonly associated with this subject.
For brighter interpretations of Fudo Myo-o, Horitomo recommends using Fudo Blue Grey as a base colour before gradually fading into a 50/50 mixture of Fudo Blue Grey and Solid White. This technique allows artists to achieve lighter blue-grey tones while maintaining the character of traditional Japanese irezumi.
Beyond its intended use in Fudo Myo-o designs, this muted pigment is well suited to Japanese tattoo compositions requiring cool shading, atmospheric depth and controlled colour transitions.
